Mal Waite's pure, rich voice, relaxed presentation and intelligent choice of songs have made her a popular solo performer since the mid-1980s. These days she's most often heard singing harmonies with her two daughters in The Waite Collective but she still enjoys the occasional solo gig. As happy singing a capella as accompanying herself on her Docherty guitar, Mal calls her repertoire wide-ranging but there are usually lots of choruses and plenty of humour.
'Her choice of songs varies from music hall to the tradition and beyond but her singing of them is breathtakingly beautiful and her range can leave you gasping. Watch out for her self-penned songs that are sprinkled throughout the performance.' The Black Diamond Folk Club, Birmingham
